Syracuse High School offers concurrent college classes for seniors through Garden City Community College. Students can earn both high school and college credit for each class. Classes offered include:
English 12/College Comp I - 3 credit hours, fall semester
English 12/College Comp II - 3 credit hours, spring semester
College Government - 3 credit hours, year-long course
College Chemistry - 5 credit hours, year-long course
To be eligible to take a college course, students must pass the Compass subject tests or achieve specific scores on the ACT subject tests.
English 12/College Comp I & II - pass Compass Reading (81) and Writing (65), ACT Reading (18) and English (18)
College Government - pass Compass Reading (81), ACT Reading (18)
College Algebra - pass Compass Math (66), ACT Math (24)
College Chemistry - have taken advanced Algebra and Chemistry I
Enrollment for fall is in August and spring is in January. Tuition is $88 per credit. **Tuition for non-resident students is $108 per credit.
